Third, I was able to explore a whole different way to connect with myself and communicate with another person that was extremely free and exhilarating for me.

A delightful journeyDance has been a wonderful influence in my world. I began studying in June 1998 at The Dancers Studio with Adam Gordon, now a dear friend. I remember walking into the studio and thinking?what a fun atmosphere, no one could be unhappy here. It was at this time in my life when I began my own business, Move As One, as an independent consultant and coach for individuals and organizations. After existing in large consulting companies where my social life was completely absorbed by their functions, I was now left with more choice as to how to fill my social calendar. Plus my daughter was near the end of her high-school days and wanted to spend less time with?mom. I was on the cusp of being an empty nester and unsure about what was next. Thus began my journey into the world of ballroom dance.? And what a delightful journey, so many benefits realized including? first an active activity where I could not only get exercise but let go of the concerns experienced as a budding entrepreneur. Secondly I was introduced to a whole new grouping of friends and social gatherings that were centered on dance rather than alcohol. Third I was able to explore a whole different way to connect with myself and communicate with another person that was extremely free and exhilarating for me. (I continue to think about writing a book, Finding God on the Dance-floor) My business grewThen later dance added to my livelihood. Unplanned by me, I began teaching dance. After moving to La Crosse, Wisconsin area in 2002, I found dance to be nearly non-existent there. To keep my sanity and keep dancing, I offered a few group classes. I was then invited to join a historic renovation project in Viroqua where I could open a dance studio, Slippers, or rather a creative arts center, in which I hosted other events of music, theatre, art and dance. The community was delighted with this center and Slippers was nominated main-street business of the year in Wisconsin in 2004. My reputation grew and I became known as the resident pro with requests for dance classes from the surrounding areas including La Crosse, Winona, Rushford, Caledonia, Onalaska and more.? But I was still hungry to grow my life?s work as expressed by my Move As One? programs. And surprisingly, I found dance to be a fabulous marketing tool that introduced me to some of the more influential members of the community who would later invite me into their businesses to guide their teams to ?move as one? toward productivity and profitability. Further, I used the concepts of dance to help convey messages in my teachings and presentations. And I found my speaking improved considerably as I drew on my experience of dance; I was a fuller embodiment of myself, expressing in whole body, as I spoke in front of larger audiences.Life changes brought me backIn the meantime, my daughter married and located herself in south Minneapolis. Shortly after marriage, they began having babies. I?m now the proud grandma of 2 beautiful boys and a new baby girl. I found I could no longer stay away, so I moved back to the Twin Cities last year, in 2007. Plus the middle child, Maximilian, had open heart surgery immediately after birth, and although he?s perfectly healthy now, I decided to be more readily available, as well as more active in their lives.I realize now that La Crosse was a wonderful experiment of success?and Minneapolis is my home and obviously offers a much larger market. My consulting and coaching business is my foundational work here, but I continue to dabble in teaching ballroom dance. The dance of lifeAfter offering a few dance classes at St. Joan of Arc last summer, I decided I wanted a more permanent home. But where can I teach? In February of this year, one of my coaching clients told me about the article in the Star Tribune about Jeff Nehrbass, a Lutheran minister as well as ballroom dance teacher, and owner of On Your Toes/Retro Ballroom. In the article, he spoke about the concepts of dance in similar ways. So I stopped by his studio and he not only had teaching openings, but immediately put me to work with some group and private lessons.? We are now offering a joint workshop to dance students that we call ?Ballroom Dance as a Springboard into Positive Life Choices?. Here is a sampling of modules:1)??? Presence of Being2)??? Cooperative Teamwork3)??? Clarity of Direction4)??? Emotion in MotionI?m excited to combine some of my life?s work in my dance classes and grateful that Jeff has a similar mission. So who knows what is next - life is a dance! But I know dance will continue for me and I always look forward to sharing this joyful expression with others.

Ballroom dancing is a very formal style of dancing that is used at formal events and in competitions all over the world. Each different type of ballroom dancing has numerous steps and motions that create a beautiful, fluid movement between the partners in the dance. Many individuals that are interested in ballroom dancing hire a professional dance instructor to teach them the steps of the dance in order to ensure that they are doing the dance properly.

There are several different styles of ballroom dancing that an individual may be interested in. The International Standard style of ballroom dancing includes dances such as the Waltz, the Tango, and the Fox Trot, while the International Latin style of ballroom dancing includes dances such as the Samba, the Rumba, and the Cha Cha. In America, there is also an American Smooth style and an American Rhythm style of ballroom dancing.

There are a number of other dances that are commonly classified as ballroom dancing, although they do not belong in the category using traditional classification factors. Many of these dances originated in the Americas and are not generally well known in the international community. Dances that tend to fall into this category include most American swing dances, the Salsa, the Merengue, and the Polka.

Most professional dance instructors will have the ability to teach the proper way to perform a number of these dances. The exact dances that each instructor is willing to teach will vary from instructor to instructor, as some will have more experience in a certain type of dance than others. Individuals may want to inquire which dances the professional dance instructor is willing to teach prior to scheduling a dance lesson in order to guarantee that they will be able to learn the dance that they desire.

Ballroom dancing is one of those items that take a few lessons to learn, but a lifetime to master. Many of the individuals that perform ballroom dancing on a competitive level have been dancing for years, often with the same partner so that they have the ability to communicate the movements and positions perfectly to each other. Individuals that would like to learn ballroom dancing for a less intense performance, such as a wedding reception, will still require multiple lessons to learn the timing and the movements of the dance.

One of the most important aspects of ballroom dancing is the appearance of the dance. Ballroom dancing is supposed to appear formal and classical, which means that the appearance of the individuals performing the dance needs to match the tone of the dance. Many individuals choose to wear traditional costumes of the mid-20th century, usually including a tuxedo and tails for the men and full, flowing colorful gowns for the women.

Over the years, the popularity of ballroom dancing has risen and fallen with the times. The allure and magic of ballroom dancing continues to survive in today’s modern age as the steps of the dances are relearned in each generation. As long as there are movies, music, and events to inspire the delicate movements of ballroom dancing, there will be individuals that are interested in learning the steps and the techniques.

From tribal rituals, to the elite, carefully learned choreography, to High School education that actually involved learning and practicing ballroom dance, there is a deep historical meaning behind it. The historical significance of dancing is just as important as the art, architecture, and music of that era. Variations of classic historical ballroom dancing such as the Minuet, to the Polonaise, to the Quadrille, Pas de Gras, the Mazurka and many, many more are still very much alive in certain circles. From competitions to classes and pure dance-floor enjoyment, many people have kept many of these dances (these expressions of a specific era?s historical flavor) alive.

When you study the history of ballroom dancing, you learn more about the social customs of certain time periods in the past. Most social dancing is not choreographed, and has been so for some time ? but it was not always that way. There are many dances created to be executed to particular music with precise movement and timing. In ballroom dancing you will have a ?leader? who is, traditionally, the man and the ?follower? who (as logically would follow) is the woman.

Physical contact between the upper body and the lower body of the dancers in position will dictate the pre-choreographed steps. The leader guides the follower into each coming movement gracefully as the music plays. The choreography provides room for each couple to move about freely as the dance requires, and sometimes partners will revolve around the room. They then end up dancing with and winding between other dancers, exactly as the routine is designed. Performing such tasks, however difficult, with grace, seemingly automatic movements, and without hesitation was a virtue for both men and women. It was common to introduce yourself or engage in conversation while executing the routine with perfect timing and without missing a step.

In some ways I like the individuality that some people put into their social dancing ? I have seen some people draw some serious attention to themselves in the club scene. However, at the same time I firmly believe that it is absolutely unfortunate for our era to have lost the opportunity to experience custom of choreographed, studied forms of partner dancing. But you can dig up the fun and relive the different art forms of eras past which are lost to most people in the here and now. Sometimes the exercise you get from ballroom dancing is a real incentive to keep yourself in shape. Fun is motivation. In addition to the exercise, you learn more about other people and places in time, you get to feel the flush of an antique, elite, and elegant art form.

Since the earliest times recorded in history there have been significant dances and / or dance rituals involving thousands upon thousands of countries at a time. This tradition carried on throughout the centuries, across the widening boundaries of time, and is as endless to us as music has been across the ages. Nonetheless, it has become more and more relaxed and unconventional as a social practice for people all over the world. For example: Early in the 20th century, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers set the example for widely popular ballroom dancing all over America. So it has not been that long, and in some places the heart of ballroom dancing of all different styles is collectively throbbing in the greatest condition of vitality.

Despite the fact that in certain places you can find people and events completely centered on the exciting art of ballroom dancing, there are also places where it is relatively unnoticed. With new fitness equipment, fitness programs, and other exercise fads such as Yoga or Pilates, ballroom dancing, it does not often occur to someone to consider ballroom dancing. Almost all doctors, specialists, and other professionals will recommend a cardiovascular workout as part of your regular exercise program. In all truth, nonetheless, ballroom dancing is an excellent possibility for an exercise program, one including a cardiovascular workout.

Ballroom dancing may just be the answer you are looking for if you are not sure how to really enjoy your exercise program. You and your partner may very well enjoy the fun and thrill of ballroom dancing over any other kind of exercise! It is not among the most popular forms of exercise people become attached to and fit into their daily schedule. Nonetheless, it could be perfect for you.

There are dance competitions you can watch on television that include a huge number of styles . . . but it does not look easy on television, and it?s actually harder than it looks! But these are professionals in extremely difficult competitions, the fact is that ballroom dancing is pretty much put into a widespread category with one consistent similarity: couples dance. Around the globe, partner dancing is both a social as well as a competitive sport that requires practice and dedication. I also believe that certain types of couples dancing are too often ignored by the media, and would certainly be enjoyed more for spectators, students, and competitors alike. If ballroom dance is given the chance, it will undoubtedly flourish.

It feels good to be at a wedding, fancy party or any special event and know how to do more on the floor than just sway back and forth like a slow dance at the High School prom. However, there are some people who remember learning how to dance in school ? having ballroom dance be a central part of any special event, especially when a young man dated a young girl.

Dancing has not really become unpopular among High School students and young adults, but it is untrained, individualized and often very unimpressive. This is not to say that some individuals do not devote time and energy to complicated dance moves and have real dedication to practicing and dancing to many contemporary styles of music. Sadly, dancing today is not what it once was. This is why, when someone really knows how, ballroom dancing can make you the center of attention when the floor is open and the music plays, luring you to move your body along with it.

The Blackjack Ballroom Casino is perhaps one of the best Microgaming Online Casinos that I have been fortunate enough to play at on the internet. As a member casino of the Casino Rewards Group of online casinos I would have to say that this is the Cadillac of their Online Casinos.

My first experience with playing at the Blackjack Ballroom Casino was as a first time player taking advantage of their 1 Hour of Free Play. Though I never made the hour playing as I lost, I must say that I had fun playing Atlantic City Blackjack as Blackjack is my game of preference whether playing at online casino or land based casino.

Also as a first time player to Blackjack Ballroom Casino I then decided that I would go on to deposit ?50 via my NeTeller account and try playing for money without taking advantage of their 40% Match Bonus. I am not one to waste my time with taking most bonus offerings even though you only have to meet the wagering through requirements of 30 X with your bonus portion only at the Blackjack Ballroom Casino.
Other reasons that I don’t like taking most bonus offerings are that you have to meet certain wagering through percentages for the different online casino games. I always like to check the most recent Audit Reports of any online casino and have found that usually the Slots Games have the poorest payout percentages.

When you check the online casino games that fully meet the wagering through percentages fully 100% you will find the Slots meet that requirement 100%. Though I may not take advantage of any online bonuses offerings for first time players doesn’t mean that you don’t have to as that should be your decision.

To make a long story short I did much better playing for money and ended up cashing out ?200 and had it deposited to my NeTeller Account within the 48 hours as they claim on the Blackjack Ballroom Casino website. I will definitely play at the Blackjack Ballroom Casino again as I definitely enjoy their Microgaming Software which I rank as the Number 1 software used for online gaming on the internet

Ballroom dance is a style of dancing with a partner of the opposite sex, which has its origins in the Western Europe and is now enjoyed at both social gatherings and competitions around the globe. It’s a form of entertainment which is widely enjoyed on stage, films, and on television. There are a variety of social dances performed by couples in the ballroom like Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, Swing, Cha Cha, Polka, Charleston, Jitterbug, Merengue etc.

In the early 20th century, the on-screen dancing pair Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers greatly influenced ballroom dancing in the USA. Ballroom dance was popularized in U.S. by Arthur Murray and Fred Astaire, who established ballroom dance studios throughout U.S. Here ‘Fred & Ginger’ classes and workshops introduced the “American Smooth” style of ballroom dance. The other popular one is the “American Rhythm”. Ballroom dance contests are particularly popular in Europe and feature both amateur and professional dancers. The other types include Nightclub Dances such as Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing and Hustle. In Europe, Latin Swing dances include Tango Argentino, Lindy Hop, Mambo, Swing Boogie and Disco Fox.

Variety and Judgment in Ballroom Dancing

Classic and Vintage dance groups are dedicated to the performance and preservation of ballroom dances of the past, having its origins in the folk dances associated with a particular place, time and costumes like The Twist, Minuet, Quadrille, Mazurka etc.

In U.S. amateur dance proficiency levels are defined by USA Dance as Bronze->Silver->Gold for syllabus dancers and Novice -> Prechampionship -> Championship for open competitors. Among professionals, the levels are classified as Rising Star and Open Professional. In a competition, ballroom dancers are judged by various criteria such as connection, frame, posture, speed, proper body alignment, proper usage of weight/ankles/feet and grooming.

Each type of dance has its own specific set of movements and dancing methods. While dancing in a crowd, always move counterclockwise around the floor following an imaginary line of dance for both the Waltz and the Fox Trot. The Swing, on the other hand, is more of a confined dance and is great for dancing on crowded dance floors. The people that are moving fast are on the outside of the floor while those who are moving slower or in more confined areas are in the middle. In other words, Waltz and Fox Trot are typically done on the outside of the dance floor Swing is performed in the center.

Dancing has always been one of the most underappreciated art forms in the world. In recent years however, it has started to get more attention. There are dancing reality shows, music videos, dancing movies, street dancing competitions and a host of others types of dancing. One of the forms of dance that has exploded into the public is Ballroom dancing. It is amazing what has happened in just the past year.

I have been in ballroom dancing for 11 years. When I started people didn?t really know what ballroom dancing was. The public?s view of ballroom dancing has always been Fred and Ginger Rogers. Though they are classic dancers, and will always be the most well known dancers in the world, dancing has evolved into something much, much more. Every year the dancers are starting younger and younger. I am teaching 5 year olds how to ballroom dance! With all of this attention I think that people should understand what it really takes to be a ballroom dancer, and be competitive with the world. People think that they can take a few classes and call themselves ballroom dancers. This is not true. It takes years and years of training and commitment, money and patience to become a real ballroom dancer. This is one of the few sports that the professionals are still taking lessons all the time. There is always something new to learn and something that can make even the best dancer a little better. It is a sport that no one will ever conquer. Once you think you have conquered it someone will always come along and do something better or new and pass you up. It is changing every day. The competition is getting harder and harder every day. If you don?t have the drive to continue working you will never make it. So what makes a REAL ballroom dancer? Well, I am going to explain the key elements of a real ballroom dancer.

First, you need the desire. If you want to take ballroom dance for fun, that is great but you need more than that. Ballroom dancers literally live to dance. They have to have that desire and drive in order to get through the disappointment, struggle and frustration that come with this sport. If you don?t have the desire there is no point in spending the money or the time it takes. You can?t teach this element, this is something that you are born with.

Second, you need time! You have to be willing to spend a lot of time on this. You need to train at least 4 hours a day and travel around the country and the world. As with any other skill it takes years to achieve the type of excellence the top professionals achieve. You will be spending tremendous amounts of time with your dance partner so it is best you get a long. You need to be willing to travel for competitions. It is important to travel and have different judges see you so you can be known. Traveling takes up a lot of time.

Third, training. It is imperative that you receive good training. You must train with different coaches and styles. Since dancing has evolved it is important to know more than one dance style. Get trained in Ballet, this will help with everything you do. Be familiar with any other dance style you can. You never know what you will need to do for a show. It is important to train with different coaches because ballroom is a political sport and a lot of time the coaches are the judges. You need to be on their good side and they need to know who you are if you want them to even look at you. It isn?t right but that is just how it is.

Fourth, MONEY! Ballroom is probably the most expensive sport around. For good training you will be paying from $80-$250 for 45 minutes! Shoes cost around $90.00 and you will need to change them at lease twice a year, probably more. Dresses will cost between $500-$5,000 per dress. You must pay for all of your travel and lodging for any competitions outside of your state or country. Even if you manage to get sponsored for dresses or shoes, you have to pay for lessons and that is the most expensive of them all. Lessons are where dancers make all of their money. There are also competition fees to even enter the competition. This all adds up very quickly.

Fifth, you need endurance. It takes a long time to get good at ballroom dance. Don?t get discouraged every one has to go through it. There will be times you dance better than other couples but get a lower score because they are more well known than you, or their coach is one of the judges, or they don?t like your dress or your hair or something about your partner. There are so many things that go into what the judges look for that you can?t control, so don?t let it get to you. You have to just do the best you can and be happy with that. Some day it will all pay off.

The last thing you need is to look like a ballroom dancer. You can spot a ballroom dancer from a mile away. This is a very vain sport and it is important to care about how you look. You need to be in shape and your hair either has to be black or platinum blonde, there is nothing in between. You need to wear expensive clothes and have great taste. Dancers are very into fashion. You need to be tan all year round and have your nails done. You need to wear false eyelashes for competition and do your makeup so that you look like you should be standing on the street corner. Your costumes need to be great and functional. Looks are important because in the competition if there are two couples that are technically the same and they both have good expression the judges will look at how they look. If one couple is better groomed and looks more professional they will get a higher score than the other couple. That is just for the ladies. The men have it easier but they still have to tan and they have to wear tight pants. Looks are very important.

Well those are the most important elements of ballroom dancing. Dancing doesn?t have to be like this. It is a great hobby for couples and friends. It is a way to meet people of the opposite sex and a great way to exercise and have fun. When you see a ballroom competition just realize people sacrifice a lot for this sport and there are many things that go into becoming a REAL Ballroom dancer.
